AI search · GEO

Measured first. Sold second.

Generative engine optimisation is being sold as a retainer by people who cannot tell you their own citation count. We start with the measurement, publish the method, and tell you honestly whether any of it is worth buying.

The read is £500. Ongoing work sits in the Organic plan, with what it leaves out printed.

The job

What GEO is, in one paragraph.

Generative engine optimisation is the practice of making your content easy for an AI system to retrieve, quote and cite, so your brand gets named in the answers produced by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. The unit of success is a citation rather than a click.

That second sentence is the part people skip, and it changes everything downstream. A page earning forty visits and quoted in thirty answers is doing the job. A page earning four hundred visits and quoted in none is not. The full definition, the paper it came from and Google's own guidance are here.

The honest bit

What can honestly be sold monthly, and what can't.

Most of the work that actually moves a citation count happens off your website — on the comparison pages, directories, trade titles and threads that models already read. That is slow, it is largely outside your CMS, and it is not honestly billable as a fixed monthly service by anyone, including us.

So the Organic plan sells the half with a boundary: the pages written and ready to publish, the structure and technical fixes specified, your citation share tracked across six surfaces every month. The off-site half is printed as not included. Anyone selling you that half on a fixed monthly fee is selling something they do not control.

Our own citation count started at zero. On 10 August 2026 findable.digital recorded no citations on any of the six platforms. We publish that figure monthly from that baseline, whichever way it moves. Judge the claim in twelve months against the published record — that is the only fair way to judge any of this, including ours.

What you buy

The Diagnostic, £500.

Fifteen buying questions agreed with you before the work starts. Three runs each, because one AI answer is noise. Six named surfaces. Three named competitors on the same method, on the same dates. The list of pages the models actually cited. Then the ranked fixes, with the SEO and paid problems underneath them in the same document.

Every check is itemised before you pay, including the six things it deliberately does not include.

Read first

Or don't buy anything yet.

The method is published in full and none of it is gated. If you would rather run the measurement yourself for the price of an afternoon, the instructions are here too.

Questions

Do you sell GEO as a monthly retainer?

Not as a retainer. AI search sits inside the Organic plan alongside SEO, because the same technical and editorial work feeds both and a buyer should not pay twice for one body of work. The plan is defined by printed limits: articles, keywords, the six surfaces, fix specifications. What it leaves out is printed too: off-site citation placement and link building, which nobody can honestly sell on a fixed monthly fee.

Then what am I actually buying?

The £500 Diagnostic. Fifteen buying questions agreed with you before the work starts, three runs each because one AI answer is noise, six named surfaces, three named competitors on the same method, the list of pages the models actually cited, and the ranked fixes. Five working days. Every check is itemised before you pay.

Why not just buy a tracking tool?

You could, and for some businesses that is the right answer. A tool tells you the temperature; it does not tell you which page to go and get mentioned on, and it does not read the SEO or the paid spend underneath. Run the free version first, which costs an afternoon and tells you whether the paid version would say anything you did not already know.

Can you guarantee a citation?

Nobody controls a model's output, and anyone guaranteeing a citation is selling something they do not own. What is guaranteed is the work: at least three prioritised fixes, each with the evidence behind it and the commercial reason it ranks where it does, or the £500 back. On the Organic plan the guarantee is on conversions from organic and AI search against your own baseline, never on a citation.
